The Carlton Fire department, established in 1881, proudly serves communities of Carlton County. The fire department operates through the dedication of its volunteers. Carlton’s ambulance responds to approximately 500 calls a year throughout a 160 square mile response area. The ambulance is staffed 24-7 with Nationally Certified EMT’s. Carlton firefighter and EMT receive extensive training in fire suppression, technical rope rescue, swift water rescue, vehicle extraction and all medical situations.

 

The department is complimented by a substantial fleet of state of the art emergency vehicles including a wild land fire truck, 3,000 gallon water tender, 1,250 gallon per minute fire engine, 75’ Ariel truck and two fully equipped ambulances. The fire hall is located at 100 4th street North. 

CHARGES FOR AMUBLANCE SERVICES AND COLLECTION

The City may impose reasonable service charges for ambulance services provide by Carlton Ambulance Service.  Charges will be determined by the City Council and reviewed annually.  If charges remain unpaid 30 days after notice of delinquency is sent to the recipient of the service or the recipient's representative or estate, the City may use any lawful means allowed to a private party for the collection of an unsecured delinquent debt.  The collection methods may include, Minnesota Revenue Recapture and/or a third party debt collection agency.

 

The City may also certify such delinquent service charges to the Auditor of any County in which the recipient is the owner of taxable real property in the state, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 366.012, to collect unpaid service charges of this kind from delinquent recipients by assessment with their property taxes.  Certification of delinquent service charges must be made to the County Auditor on or before October 15 of each year, but such certification may only be made if, on or before September 15, the City has given written notice to the property owner of its intention to certify the charges to the auditor.
