Friends of the Library

February is Love Your Library Month. The library uses this month as a kick-off for our yearly fundraising goal.  The library receives approximately 60% of its funding through taxes. The remainder comes from the fundraising done by the library.  It’s always a good time to support the library.

The Carlton Area Public Library is located in downtown Carlton.

We have a wide variety of books for all ages.  It is a family friendly environment.  There are several programs offered by the library to help encourage children and adults to read and create.

As part of the Arrowhead Library System, we are able to be involved in a video, audio and large print book rotation system.  This allows our selection of video, audio and large print books to change which allows a wider variety available to our patrons. The library is also able to order books and movies from other Arrowhead Library System libraries.

Your library also provides a place for job seekers to go online to look for employment and to use the computers for resumes.

The library has many amenities that our users find helpful and beneficial, including:

~    Four fully equipped computer workstations with free internet access

~    Printer available for nominal charge per page

~    Large selection of printed books

~    Selection of audio books on tape and CD

~    Wide selection of VHS and DVD movies

~    Several popular magazines

~    Ability to request a specific publication either on-line at or via phone (218-384-3322) from the Arrowhead Public Library System and delivered to the Carlton Area Public Library
