Bill Schlenvogt serves as the City’s Building Official on a part-time basis. It is Bill’s responsibility to enforce the Uniformed Building Code in Carlton by issuing building permits, conducting inspections and reviewing new construction plans.

Building Permit Application Process

The City of Carlton requires building permits for all new construction and for remodeling and repairs to existing structures. Application forms can be downloaded from this site and submitted to the City Administration office for review. The Building Official will review the application and issue the necessary permit along with any additional instructions deemed appropriate. Applications should be submitted as far in advance of construction as possible. Permit fees may be obtained from the City’s Fee Schedule.
